Last summer, I was approached on Instagram by a woman who introduced herself as a fashion designer. We arranged a meeting, and she came down to our yard to discuss an exciting project. She explained that she was working on a fashion show set to take place in America this year and that she wanted to create a dress inspired by a Corinthian column capital. The idea was both fascinating and challenging, as it involved transforming an architectural element into a wearable piece of haute couture.

To begin, I sketched out some initial drawings to assess whether it was even possible to execute the design. Once I had a clear vision, I selected a Corinthian cap we had on hand and began moulding specific pieces to fit the dress. I carefully shaped the backs of the elements, trimmed them, and tested their placement on the corset to determine how they would work structurally and aesthetically.
This project has been one of the most challenging I’ve ever taken on, as I’ve never attempted anything quite like this before. However, it has also been incredibly rewarding to transform an architectural masterpiece into a high-fashion gown. The process has required patience, precision, and a lot of creative problem-solving.

Although the dress is not yet finished, I am eagerly working towards completing it. If everything goes to plan and the dress makes it safely to Boston, I hope to see it showcased on the runway. Seeing this concept come to life has been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the final result!
